The red zone pays
Damage scales with your own temperature. At 92 % you hit nearly twice as hard — so the economy of the game pushes you to the edge of an explosion and keeps you there.

900 K The game
This one uses thermodynamics. Your core heats up when you fire, and the only heat sink in the game is the air moving over your body.
The consequence needs no tutorial: take cover to shoot in peace, and you melt in eight seconds. There is no other rule to learn, and everything below is a consequence of this one.
1400 K The consequences
Damage scales with your own temperature. At 92 % you hit nearly twice as hard — so the economy of the game pushes you to the edge of an explosion and keeps you there.
Nothing here has a texture. An enemy's colour is its health: dark red when intact, white hot a moment before it dies. You never read a health bar. You read the room.
Standing on solid ground dissipates nothing at all, and the faster you fly the harder you cool. Every weapon's recoil is a thruster. Shooting is moving.
2000 K What is in the box
That last number is not a typo. Every sound effect and all six music tracks are synthesised while the game runs — there is not one audio file in the build, and not one texture either.
2800 K Play it
HEATSINK is out on Steam in Early Access — complete, with an ending, and still being balanced with the people who play it. The free demo takes the campaign as far as its second boss and gives you two of the twelve movement courses.
